About Somatic Therapy

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the deep connection between mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapy that focuses primarily on thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy works directly with the nervous system, physical sensations, and the body's wisdom to release stress, trauma, and emotional patterns that are stored in the body.

How is somatic therapy different from regular therapy?

Traditional therapy often focuses on understanding problems intellectually—analyzing thoughts, patterns, and stories. Somatic therapy adds a crucial dimension: the body. While you might understand why you feel anxious, your body may still be stuck in a stress response. Somatic therapy helps you access and shift these physical patterns, creating change that you can actually feel, not just understand.

Is somatic therapy right for me?

Somatic therapy may be right for you if you: feel disconnected from your body, carry stress or tension you can't seem to release, have tried talk therapy but still feel stuck, experience anxiety or overwhelm that seems to come out of nowhere, or sense that your body is holding onto past experiences.

What can somatic therapy help with?

Somatic therapy can support chronic stress and burnout, anxiety and panic, feeling stuck or disconnected, relationship challenges, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma recovery, and a general desire for deeper self-awareness and personal growth.

Sessions & Scheduling

What happens in a typical session?

Each session is tailored to your unique needs. We may begin with grounding and centering, explore what you're bringing to the session, and then work with body awareness, breath, gentle movement, or other somatic practices. Sessions are collaborative—you're always in control of the pace and depth.

How long are sessions?

Individual somatic therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes. The complimentary consultation is 20 minutes. We can discuss what session length and frequency works best for your needs during our initial conversation.

How often should I come?

Most clients find weekly sessions most beneficial, especially in the beginning. This consistency allows us to build momentum and integrate the work deeply. However, the frequency is always based on your unique situation and goals.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, I work with clients worldwide via secure video sessions. Somatic therapy translates beautifully to virtual work—you'll be guided through practices in the comfort of your own space.

Practical Details

What are your fees?

Session fees and package options are discussed during the complimentary consultation. The initial 20-minute consultation is always free.

Do you take insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged the full session fee.

Where are you located?

I'm based in Florida and offer both in-person sessions for local clients and virtual sessions for clients worldwide.

Getting Started

What happens in the complimentary consultation?

Our 20-minute consultation is a relaxed conversation where you can share what's bringing you to somatic therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of whether we're a good fit. I'll explain how I work, and we can discuss your goals and needs.

How do I prepare for my first session?

There's no special preparation needed—just come as you are. For virtual sessions, find a private, comfortable space where you can sit or lie down, and ensure you have a reliable internet connection. Wear comfortable clothing.

What if I'm nervous about trying somatic therapy?

It's completely natural to feel nervous about trying something new. Many of my clients feel this way at first. The work is always collaborative and paced to your comfort level. The complimentary consultation can help you get a feel for my approach with no commitment.

How quickly will I see results?

Many clients report feeling more grounded, present, and relaxed after just a few sessions. However, lasting transformation is a process that unfolds over time. Deep, sustainable change typically emerges over months of consistent work together.
