Dr. Koren A. Bedeau
Dr. Bedeau has been successful as a compassionate and strategic leader in higher education for over 18 years. She has held key leadership roles at the University of Miami, Drexel University and The George Washington University, and leveraged her background and life experience to connect people working together to advance organizational priorities while realizing their professional goals. Her career has focused on graduate education, educational access programs, and leadership development programs for women faculty in STEM and STEM faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. At each institution, she’s been responsible for producing and implementing strategic campus wide and national programs to support student and faculty success. Koren has a track record of building and articulating agreements with research universities and 2 or 4 year colleges and establishing relationships for international engagement. She is co-author of a chapter entitled “Preparing Leaders for the Evolving American Academy” in the book Higher Education in a Changing World, which was published in 2023 as a guide to an industry that is in a perpetual state of flux.
In addition to her therapeutic work with somatics, she also provides thought leadership and professional development training as Director of Faculty Engagement at PRISSEM Academic Services. As a first generation college graduate and first-generation Trinidadian American Dr. Bedeau adds unique perspective on common challenges and opportunities supporting equitable and strategic leadership. Koren earned a Ph D in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University in Washington, DC and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.
